New to Church?
Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.
Key information about the church...
Where & when does the church meet?
Our Church meets every Sunday at 10:30am for our Sunday Service. There is free on-street parking around the church (but please be respectful of our neighbours by not parking outside their houses).
We meet at:
366 Westgate Road
Newcastle NE4 6NX
You can see a map on our contact us page.
What should I expect when I visit the church?
You will receive a very warm welcome, particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. Generally, the service starts with a period of around 30-40 minutes of family worship time led by our worship leaders, which includes a mixture of singing, bible readings and prayer. After the children leave for their groups, there is a time of reflection and a sermon from one of our preaching team. The service is usually about an 11/2 hour long, though this can be up to 13/4 depending on the content.
Communion is served at on average once a month. Anyone who calls Jesus "Lord" is invited to take communion; those who have not committed themselves to Christ are welcome to come forward for a blessing. At our family communions, children who have given their life to Christ of their own free will and where this has been discussed with the pastor or leadership team are also welcome to take communion.
Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions about what our mission is, and how we worship God.
What happens to the kids at church?
We have a fantastic programme for the children at the Church for:
Sparks (Birth-2yrs)
Glow (3yrs-5yrs)
Lighthouse (Years 1-6)
Illuminate (Year 7-13)
Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. The worship leader will announce when the children will leave for their groups. You will need to go with your children and register them, the first time they attend. At the end of the service, the children in Lighthouse & Illuminate will return to sanctuary; parents of children in Sparks and Glow will need to collect them.
Illuminate have a varied programme so will not go out to a group every week.
For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.
Is there a dress code?
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.
Will I have to join in?
Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
